The future of the game

Many people are already used to charging their mobile phones, headphones and even toothbrushes. How do you like the idea of charging sports shoes? Nike has already introduced such an innovation with Adapt BB.

In February, the first Nike Adapt BB smart shoes, equipped with FitAdapt technology support and designed for basketball, went on sale.

These smart shoes adapt themselves to the individual’s foot, securing it in a more comfortable position. The tightness of the lacing depends on the duration of the workout and can automatically release or increase the pressure for a more comfortable feel at different moments of the game. For example, during a break, the athlete can loosen his shoes and when he returns to the game, he can securely re-lock them.

FitAdapt’s built-in mechanism measures the pressure the shoe puts on the athlete’s foot and changes it depending on the parameters selected. This allows the shoes to be securely fixed on the feet without pinching them. The pressure can be adjusted manually via the smartphone app or via keys on the sides of the sole. The tightening process is externally imperceptible. Under the sole are a gyroscope, accelerometer, motion sensors, Bluetooth module and a 505 mAh battery that lasts 10-20 days. The smart shoes are recharged using the wireless charger supplied.

In the near future, Nike intends to launch smartwatches with the same FitAdapt system for other sports activities.
