iOS (and iPad OS) 14.2 public beta now available
iOS 14 was just officially released last week with many changes to iOS and iPad OS devices and their home screens. In less than a week, Apple is already hard at work on additional updates with the release of the iOS 14.2 public beta.

The beta is now open to anyone with an Apple ID and a compatible iPhone or iPad. iOS 14.2 features a new music recognition feature right in the Control Centre that integrates the music recognition capabilities of Shazam (recently acquired by Apple). This will allow you to recognise music playing around you and also recognise music played in apps.

The Control Centre also has a newly updated “Now Playing” widget that displays recently played music that you may want to play when no music is playing. A new AirPlay interface will make it easier to connect to multiple AirPlay 2 devices.

Finally, the new People detection feature, which uses the camera to estimate how far away a person is from you, is a great way to measure social distance.
