Evelatus Expert – NFC!

What is NFC and Android Beam?

NFC, or near field communication, has been around for a long time, but not everyone knows about it or uses it. Nowadays, most smart devices have this feature, but what does it do? Evelatus Expert is ready to tell you about it.

NFC is a technology that uses radio communications to transfer or read information between devices when they are in close proximity. This means that the technology is wireless, but does not use the internet or Bluetooth, and is free. NFC works in three modes: it can be used as a contactless card, it can read information from NFC tags or small chips, and it allows the transfer of files between devices.

Contactless card payments are becoming increasingly popular nowadays. Your smartphone can also become a contactless card with Google Pay (or other apps of this kind) or Apple Pay with NFC connectivity. You just need to hold your phone close to the card terminal and the payment will be done.

If you want to quickly and easily transfer photos, documents, contact information or even share your location with the person next to you, then NFC is a great feature you should definitely use!

File transfers between devices using NFC are only available for Android devices. To use it, you and the other person you want to send files to must have NFC and Android Beam enabled. Then open the file or photo you want to share and bring the backs of the two phones closer together until they’re connected. To check if your device is NFC-enabled, go to Settings – Device connection and find the NFC feature.
