Monochrome or black and white mode

To save your phone battery and protect your eyes while reading, you can use the monochrome (black and white) phone mode.

To use monochrome mode on an Android device, you need to open the developer menu. You can activate the menu by going to “System Settings” > “About phone” and pressing “Build number” 7 times until the message “You are now a developer!” appears. Then go back to System Settings, where you will now find the “Developer options” menu.

In the Developer Options menu, find “Simulate stack”, and click on “Solid colour”. Your smartphone will now display in black and white and save your phone’s battery. To turn this option off, repeat the above steps and click on “Disable”.

To use monochrome mode on iOS, you need to open “General settings” > “Accessibility”. Find the “Vision” > “Monochrome Mode” menu, and move the slider to the active position to turn it on. Your smartphone will now display in black and white and save your phone’s battery. To turn this option off, move the ”Black and white mode” slider back to the inactive position.
